Description
Wool tapestry fragment intended to imitate the appearance of more precious textiles. The spacing of the palmettes and pineapple devices is closest to a silk damask pattern, although the lighter patches in the dark green areas convincingly create an illusion of the deep, rich, light-reflecting pile of a cut silk velvet. Part of the Burrell Collection.
